Rob Mansbridge ACIEEM, Principal Ecologist at Esk Ecology, has over 8 years’ experience as a professional ecological consultant.
He has vast experience in the ecological consultancy sector, having successfully undertaken and managed a variety of projects across Britain. These have ranged from small-scale developments such as barn conversions and extensions to large-scale housing developments, plantation forestry proposals and solar farms.
Rob has extensive experience in protected species and habitat surveys, and the associated reporting, to assist in enabling successful developments. He holds species survey licences for bats (England) and great crested newts (England and Wales).

Preliminary Ecological Appraisals and Biodiversity Net Gain Assessments
Rob can carry out Preliminary Ecological Appraisals (PEAs) and Biodiversity Net Gain assessments for your proposed development.
Protected Species Surveys and Reporting
Rob is suitably experienced, and licensed, to undertake a variety of protected species surveys and associated reporting, including:
- Bats – Preliminary roost assessments. Bat activity surveys (subcontractor only)
- Badgers – Presence/absence surveys
- Water Voles – Presence/absence surveys
- Otters – Presence/absence surveys
- Great Crested Newts – Presence/absence surveys, population class surveys and eDNA surveys
- Reptiles – Presence/absence surveys, population class surveys.
- Breeding Birds – Breeding bird surveys, including moorland breeding bird, raptor and black grouse surveys
- Wintering Birds – Wintering bird surveys (vantage point and transect surveys)
Ecological/Environmental Clerk of Works
Rob has extensive experience as an Ecological and Environmental Clerk of Works, both for protected species and environmental compliance.
Subcontractor
Rob can carry out all of the above services, including reporting, on behalf of your ecological consultancy as a subcontractor. Rob can also do peat depth surveys and peatland condition assessments (data collection only).
